New partnership with Grimsby Town Foundation

Lincolnshire Cricket and Grimsby Town Foundation announce new partnership as part of the Premier League Kicks Programme

The partnership, which launches its first session on 18th September from 5-6pm at Ormiston Maritime Academy’s Sports Hall, will provide young people aged 8-15 in the local community with FREE, year-round cricket and football sessions.

The project which will take place every Wednesday, aims to promote physical activity, build teamwork and leadership skills, and offer a fun, engaging environment for participants to thrive.

Benefits of the partnership for participants will include:

  • Multi-sport sessions led by trained coaches, designed to introduce and develop both cricket and football skills.
  • Opportunities for young people to participate in community matches and tournaments, representing Grimsby Town Foundation.
  • A focus on social development, using sport to boost confidence, improve mental health, and foster a sense of belonging within the community.
  • Workshops

Justin Owen, Lincolnshire Cricket’s Head of Participation and Growth commented, “The involvement of young people in a wide range of sports activities will help them develop a wide range of physical skills, as well as encouraging teamwork, resilience and confidence.”

“The combination of cricket and football allows them to gain a better understanding of sportsmanship, and gives them the chance to develop a passion for sport. Sport has the ability to bring young people together and we aim to harness this to develop the foundations of a stronger local community.”

Time: 5pm – 6pm
